National Mason Jar Day...How are you celebrating?

Mason jars have been around for years.Originally meant for canning, they now have numerous uses. This year the National Calendar people decided that the Mason Jar needed its own celebrational day.

I am not sure how I will celebrate quite yet but, if you need some ideas, I have a ton of them.
Check them out from my Pinterest board.

Go, have fun and let me know how you are celebrating!

*Y

*Yarn

I have mentioned on numerous occasions that I really like checking out Pinterest (my button is on my page if you want to add me). Before Easter I found a project using yarn to make string eggs. It was a project I actually had remembered doing as a kid in grade school. Well, sort of anyway.

If you want complete instructions on how to make them go here. I will tell you that this is not the original one I found (I can't seem to find it again) and it calls for spray stiffener when we actually used Stay Flo liquid starch and glue.

One afternoon my daughter and I decided to try this out.  We decided to use the string you see in the above photo. Isn't it pretty?
I can tell you now that we should have used yarn because it is thicker and seems to stay on the balloons better.

We wrapped the balloons to what we thought were ideal and left them to dry. We had to be very careful not to get them too sticky or the string simply did not adhere to the balloons.

It took several days for even one balloon to dry and some didn't dry at all.  In the end, we actually just had one big mess and no cute egg balloons. In fact, some of the balloons (seen below) shriveled up before they were dried. Next time (if there actually is a next time) we will use yarn and tie them on thicker.

We aren't exactly sure what we did wrong but all in all, it was a fun project to attempt.  I enjoyed doing this with my daughter even if it was a complete disaster!

Friday Pinning & A Song

It is Friday and the weekend is upon us. As I have been doing for a few weeks now I post this week's Pinterest finds. I usually link up with Natasha from Oz but she has changed her linky party for that. However, make sure to check out her blog anyway because it is still for the stuff you love.

So moving on...

1. This week I found some really cute Spring things. I couldn't help but like these cute candle sticks. I might even make them myself.

2. Nothing says Spring to me than bunnies. I found this rare darling bunny. I just want to take him home.

3. When I was a kid we always got new outfits for Easter. I always got a new bonnet or hat since I was the only girl.  These hats are certainly nothing like that but who wouldn't want to at least make one. I do!

4. The last thing I want to show you this week just makes me want to go...Ahhhh.

Well, that is it for now. Make sure you set your clocks up on Saturday and let's enjoy this Spring.

Pinning weekend...March 3, 2012

Hello everyone. Welcome back to another addition of pinning on the weekend hosted by the lovely Natasha from Oz. (I still love that she is from Oz...hee hee) I have not been on Pinterest much this week (gasp!) because it has been kind of busy. However,  I do have some special things to share with you. I hope you enjoy them.

1. I was just over on the site a moment ago and found this cute gadget. It actually tickles my funny bone.

2. I don't know about you but I love the Muppets.  I found this guy when I was searching for them.

3. Since Kermit always sang the Rainbow Connection I thought I would share something along that category. Unbelievable!

4. As this week was Dr. Suess' birthday, I can't pass up this pin. All I have to say is that was a ton of work!

5. Song for the week...since I am thinking Kermit:

Have a good rest of the weekend and Happy Pinning.

Friday Pinning Party

It's Friday and that means it is "Triple P" day or other wise known at Pinsters Pinning Party. Ok, so it is a goofy title but who cares let's get down to pinning shall we?

This party is hosted by Natasha from Oz. Don't you just love she actually lives in Oz? Anyway, link up with her if you wish to join.

So, it has taken me a bit to get this post going because I keep finding great stuff to add to my existing boards and creating new ones.  This is what I want to share with you this week:

1. I just found this today and just thought it was too cool.

2. This next thing reminded me of when I was a kid. I will probably post a story about them at another time.

Wow, it is already Friday, time sure flew by. It has been another crazy week but I certainly took time to feed my Pinterest addiction. Oh yes, it is an addiction. Come on, you know it is!

Anyway, I am here for  the linky party. This week I found some interesting or should I say pinteresting stuff to share with you.

1. I really enjoy the old fashioned letter writing. I have a couple of pen pals. This week I found some vintage post cards. Here is a couple of them.

2.  I also like a pretty journal or two.

3. The last thing I am going to share is one of my passions (besides writing) and that is photography. I found some really cool vintage cameras . I actually owned this one.

Ok, so the last one was a toy camera. Did you  have one as a kid? I did, I guess it was fate. :)

Before I go, I just had to repin this pin from our host Natasha. Doesn't it just say it all? Less expensive too!

Peace...see you next time.

PS>Sheesh...I forgot to add a song! Did I mention this has been a crazy week? This makes it better!!!
