Summer 2017 Biannual Blogathon Bash! I Am A Go? #blogathon2

It has been awhile since I participated in the Blogathon Bash. I love this time though, as I get a ton done. This time around, I am late signing up and getting even started.

However, the beauty of the bash is it can work with your schedule and thank goodness for that because I am one big mess this weekend.

So, here are a few goals for the rest of the bash:
1. Get a couple of blogs pre-posted for this blog and definitely my reading blog, Reading Authors
(I have little net time during the week now.)
2. Fix my other blog as something went wacky over there.
3. Follow up with commenting for Kid Lit Hop
4. Clean up and out my email/install an undescribed
5. Catch Sunday's Twitter party.
6. Clean up and catch up with my Facebook pages
7. If time, do a mini-challenge or two

I will be lucky if I can finish all of that but I will do my best!

Want to know more? Check out the information below.  ~Michelle aka Naila Moon

#MemorialDay Think about it...

credit to the cartoonist, Steve Sack, Cagle Cartoons, The Minneapolis Star Tribune

When I was growing up, my Grandpa would sometimes say that today was "Decoration Day", a day to go out and decorate all of the cemetery plots. He grew up in southern Missouri, in the country. Most all of the cemeteries there is family related in one fashion or another.

He often told me they would decorate each grave of fallen soldiers with flowers. Yes, they had picnics nearby but it was due to the length of time it took...it was an all day affair.

Writing this forces me to remember what Memorial Day really is all about. It is a time to remember our fallen soldiers, both men and women, who served our country and died in doing so.

Think about it.

Monday's Music Moves Me...The Whatever Version

Credit

Hello, my favorite musical people. Today is Monday's Music Moves Me and I am playing along to the beat of my own drummer. I am a bit confused as to whether this is a freebie week or a theme week so, I will just do the "whatever version." I kind of like that anyway.

Hmm....So, let's see what I have for you this week. Since next Sunday is Mother's Day and my Mom will be gone. I thought I would ask her what she would like to hear. This is her picks!

Her first pick: I love this movie too. It is not necessarily her favorite movie but it is the first song off the top of her head.

Next: This song she was thinking of my Dad. She said, " We used to dance to this song all of the time."

Finally: I asked her what was the last song she would like to hear and it was...Silent Night. I cannot be certain why except I know she loves the season of Christmas.

So, there you have it. My Mom's picks for the week. Make sure you link up and have a great week.

Coffee Chat: If I Could Go Anywhere Today... #CoffeeChat

It is coffee chat time...for me, that would be Pepsi...it is time to talk about a not-so-random topic with Rory. This week she wants to talk about if I could go anywhere today, where I would go? Hmm...?

Well, since she did ask about just today and not long term, that makes a difference as to where I would go. Since I do not have a car...sigh...I would probably walk up to the nearest bus stop, hand-in-hand with the hubby, and head to Sedona. There I can catch up with my Mom.

I would ask her to drive us to the mountains toward Flagstaff. Have you ever been that way? Oh, my gosh, it is gorgeous with winding roads, loads of trees, and the river running along. I think this time I would ask her to first stop at Dairy Queen. Yeah! We would all get some ice cream and check out the Native American wares. Oh, my, their stuff is gorgeous!

Then, after all of that, I would ask her to take me somewhere close by the river. I have been wanting to go down there and take some photos. Maybe we could dip our toes in the river, skip rocks, or make the river move in a different direction by moving big boulders. We would certainly have a picnic.

Oh, I know, we could go down to the trout fishery. The water there runs swiftly and it would be cool to see the fish flitting about. Oh yes, I can see it and feel the cool water wafting over my feet.

After we spent several hours, then we would head back to Sedona and go up to Airport Road. This is on top of one of the mountains, although, I am not sure which. Anyway, we would join others who have come up there to see the breathtaking view over Sedona and watch the sun set over the mountains.

I am sure we would hear a group of women singing their songs to the sun or hear a young violinist making beautiful music while people drop coins in her case.

Yes! This is what I would do if I could go anywhere. But...

Unfortunately, I have to go to work.

Monday's Music Moves Me...Late (of course)

As it has been lately, I am late to hit the dance floor with the fine folks at Monday's Music Moves Me. This weekly meme is hosted by Xmas Dolly with the music train co-hosts of: Stacy, Callie, and Cathy.

This week is a freebie, and that is a good thing because I can "hit you with my best shot." See what I did there? No? Ok, then. Moving on.

First up: It is May 1st so, I just had to do this one first. HA!

Next up: Nothing like a little Micheal Buble singing about May.

Finally, there is this guy who isn't singing about the month of May but certainly about the girl, Maggie May. ;)

That's it folks for this week. Make sure you link up your music too.

Coffee Chat: Perfect Spring Day #CoffeeChat #Arizona

I am so incredibly late for Coffee Chat today. I had two doctor appointments today and had to take my Mom places, pick up meds, and jump hoops in general. Ah....
Oh yeah, and the net here at the house keeps going out so if you lose me...
HA, you won't even know!

So, what was I saying? Oh yeah, Coffe Chat with Rory!

Topic: Describe your perfect Spring day.

Here in Arizona, we have beautiful days although, often hot. Spring is absolutely no exception. Take for example the two-part mini road trip I had to take today. Since my Mom lives in one town and I live in another, we are about 15-20 minutes apart.

The road in between is nothing but high desert. Going toward my house I can see the gorgeous land with mountains in the foreground. Cactus growing among the bushes and Joshua trees spotting the land. The mini mountains along the way are dotted with those trees along with dry reeds and brush. If I am lucky, I might see an antelope or deer. Sometimes those mini mountains look like they go up and down depending on the day. Is that a desert illusion? Perhaps.

the photo was taken by my husband, Mark

Coming to my Mom's house, the Red Rock Mountains rise up to meet me. The red is enhanced by the bright sun that beams off of them. The clouds are fluffy and the sky is bluer than blue. The wildflowers that dot along the highway spread their fragrance in the colors of oranges and yellows. The wind whips the tall grasses in a natural dance.  All is lovely and...

I have no allergies.

Tuesday Coffee Chat: The Stupidest Thing #TuesdayswithRory #CoffeeChat

Happy day after Monday...ya know, Tuesday! I love the Minions. I totally took this from Rory B's page. I am sure she stole it...um, secured it...from someone else.

Who's Rory you ask? Oh my gosh, let me tell you! She is the gal I used to share my favorite beverage with, via online of course, for Tuesday's Coffee Chat. It has been so long ago that I am sure she thinks I no longer exist. I do, Rory, I do! I am back!

Anyway, she always has these great convo starters and this week is:
                                                                       Foolish Me --
What's the silliest or craziest thing you've ever done?

Well, I wish I could say that I was never an idiot and did stupid stuff but then, I would be lying through my teeth. In fact, I have done a few crazy things which I will divulge, but will deny later if it comes up again, especially if my Mom asks. Okay?

So, a couple of things come to mind both being B.B.Y. (before baby years). The first is when I was 18ish or 19ish. My first husband and I went to visit his Dad that lived on Bull Shoals Lake. He had a ski lift kind of contraption that connected from his house to the boat dock down the hill.  He lived on a private cove too. Pretty cool thing.

So, we invited my best friend and her then fiance to come down and hang out for the weekend. They were in college in a nearby city. As young adults will do at times, we decided to take off down to the dock, have some bbq, and party.   We had a few but not to the point of total intoxication.

The next thing I know, the guys are stripping and jumped into the lake. Of course, they wanted us to get in too. Now, it was cool and all to strip in front of my then husband but not in front of my best friends! I hesitated a bit and next thing I know, in goes my girlfriend. Needless to say, it did not take long before I was butt naked in the water too.

We drank wine and swam around the cove a bit and had a great time. The only issue we had after that was trying to get out of the water without completely falling back in and also somehow, keeping out modesty. Did I happen to mention we had no towels? Yeah, that didn't happen.
----------------
The other time I will mention is before we got married. We were in college and I was 18ish. We went to a college after play party that my then, boyfriend, was in. The problem for me is that I had just come from a not-so-unusual weekend party with my friends. I was already feeling fine.

This party turned out to be a barn party with 100's of kids and a whole bunch of booze. Seriously, I have no idea the different types there was including a few kegs. I know I drank a bottle of Moon Dog Grape 20/20, as that was the thing then. Good stuff!

Next thing I know is I needed to use the bathroom. I was drunk as a skunk.
The only one there was, was at the house from the barn owners, the line was ridiculously long. I finally got to the front and promptly threw myself into the bathroom and threw up. This would not be that big of a deal, probably, if it hadn't been for the several other people that did the same thing before me. Oy, nasty!

If that was not enough, we then went to his friend's house. I had never met the guy. They partook in a bit of MJ (which I did not for the record) as I drank more wine. I passed out.
Several hours later, he took me home. He was a complete gentleman, though, and never laid one hand on me. Boy, was I lucky and only had a major hangover to deal with.

Yeah, stupid!

Monday's Music: Freebie Week!

Hey, all you musical fans. It is Monday and that means we rock out over at Xmas Dolly's Place. She is doing the A-Z Blog Challenge like I am, so check it out. Oh yeah, in fact, so are two other co-host, Stacy and Cathy. Whoot!

So, today is freebie week. I love this particular week because I can subject you...um, share...music I am into right now.

Last night, the hubby and I found this cool music channel. It shows concerts from different individual and groups. It also shows an interview show by Sammy Hagar. We happened to catch his show first and he was interviewing the lead guitar dude from ZZ Top!

Next, we caught a concert by Blondie!

The last concert we saw for the night was Cyndi Lauper! We loved her, she was pure class!

See ya next time. ~Michelle

Sky Friday:Sedona 3/31/17

It has been a long time since I posted a Sky Friday posting of my area. In fact, I do not remember the last time. So, I thought with the new looking blog and all, why not. In fact, starting today, I hope to post a Sky Friday and a Friday Photo post for you. I would love if you share where you are from and what your neck of the world looks like.

The photo today is from Sedona. This is one of the Red Rock mountains where my Mom lives. I think this is thunder mountain. It was gathering a doozy of a storm...that never happened today.

What's with the Alien On Instagram?

Recently, I visited a local book store and had myself a honest to goodness alien sighting. He was standing right there, staring at me, begging me to come in and chat. So, I did.
He told me his life's story, how he came to be here (via Roswell, NM of course), and why he was standing in the store window.

It turns out, he simply needed to take care of himself while he was waiting for the others. I can only assume that meant the Mother ship but, I wasn't about to ask that question. Anyway, he said that the kind book store lady took him in and said he could stand in the window and have people take photos of him in exchange for alien food. I think that may mean sushi but again, I don't really know.

So, since I was already there, I decided to sit down with him and have my own photo taken. I had to be careful with holding his arm, apparently aliens do not have strong arms and if you hold on too hard, they can break. Seriously, I was not going to have that on my conscience!

Nice fellow, that alien.
----------------------
PS>Just so you know. I have always considered myself the Supreme Leader of the Known Universe. Don't believe me? Visit my Facebook page. Anyway, it was only natural that this alien took a photo with me for future relations with his race.

Monday's Music Moves Me...Sci-fy Movies or TV Themes #MondaysMusicMovesMe

It has been awhile since I played along with the gals at Monday's Music Moves Me. I miss you gals!
So, this week, with the new updated blog and all, I am thinking...yeah, it is time to come back.

This week the hostess with the mostess, X-mas Dolly, said there is a theme: Music from Sci-fy movies or TV themes. Okay then, I can do that!

First up: I am a bit of a sci-fy nerd...not as much as the hubby...but certainly, I like a bit of it. One of my favorites is Star Trek Deep Space 9. I recently came across the series again on TV and remembered why I liked it so much. This particular version of the theme music is performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Love it!

Next: The original Sci-fy series, "X-files" was a favorite of mine. I like the mystery of it and the ongoing alien theory. Who doesn't like a good alien story? The music for the show is as mysterious as the show itself.

Finally: Just like aliens, I love a good ghost story. One of the most intriguing TV series is that of "Dead Files". If you have not seen the talents of Amy Allen, then you have got to watch this show. It will spook you!

sigh...I just found out that they have no theme song on YouTube. However, I did find an episode where they were here in town. Oh....gotta go watch...be.right.back...

music

Okay so, let me try another one: One of my favorite movies was "Close Encounters" Does this really surprise you since aliens fascinate me?

Make sure you link up! Happy Monday!
~Michelle

HEY! LOOK-Y HERE...

Well, hello! I am back after a month, almost two-month hiatus. I needed time away for awhile as life was piling up. I also need some time to figure out how to move forward with some things.

First, you will notice the new digs. Fancy? Ok, not so much but a definite change. I like change. Next, I am sure you have already noticed the change in title for my blog and...

...what is that, a new name?

No, not really. I am the same Naila Moon as I always have been but if you have followed along for awhile, you would know that was a pen name or nickname of sorts. People were beginning to call me by my true given name so, I just decided to go with it. Again, I like change and I like me so...

More importantly, I wanted to change the direction (again) of my blog. The whole intention for blogging, to begin with, was for me to have a relationship...albight virtual...with others, and to get my lone voice out there to be heard. I wanted to have fun and enjoy life through blogging.

However, blogging got to be bogged down with nothing but giveaways. I enjoy that too but my voice had become lost in it and blogging had become dull to me. So, I have changed it!

Here you will see my musings come to play and hopefully a whole lot of merriment with it. Come back and enjoy. If there is a giveaway or two for you, that is good as well. Don't forget to see me on my other blog too, "Reading Authors". I talk all about books there!

Glad to be back!
~Michelle

Fiction in 50..."Moving With the Times" by M. M.

Moving with the times, the place was filled with teenagers talking and having a good time. Everyone donned some sort of fancy hat that noted it was soon to be  2000.

Y2K was on everyone's minds. Music continued to blare. Were we doomed?

At midnight...the lights went out.

~M,M. Hudson aka Naila Moon

----------------------------

About Fiction In 50:
50 in fiction is the brain child of "Bruce" who host this fun writing challenge every month. The idea is simple, to take a prompt and write a piece of flash fiction in 50 words or less. Did I meet the challenge?

Note: The story I presented above is actually not fiction at all but was manipulated to seem so. Obviously, I left out many details to meet this challenge. LINK UP HERE

Monday's Music Moves Me...I'm In the Spotlight With British Invasion!

Hey, I am back for another Monday's Music. I was chosen as the Spotlight Dancer so, of course I had to play. This week I have chosen British Invasion. Now, it can be present singers, past singers, or groups. I think you would be surprised how many of our beloved performers are indeed British.
You decide!

Don't forget to sign up on the linky. Now, let's rock!

First up: One of my favorite groups is also one of the oldest around. Freddy Mercury was their lead singer and song writer. Although he has had a replacement or two, his vocalizations are still widely loved to this day. One of my favorite songs from his group, Queen is this one:

Next up: This next singer I never knew to be British, but indeed he is. I loved his music when he was most popular in the 1980's. One of his most famous and award winning songs is this one. I give you, Billy Ocean.

Finally: This singer has been another favorite of mine for years. Even with suffering a great loss of his son, he wrote one of the most well known and heartfelt songs. This song by Eric Clapton was also well know and a winner as well.

BONUS: I know all of my artist are male artist. Maybe next time I will post only female artist. So, on to my BONUS song. I would be terribly amiss if I did not include the following band. They were what the British Invasion was all about. They just happened to have made a song named after me. LOL

I am of course talking about...The Beatles!

Have a good week!
