November was a tough month for so many people this year. There has been so much unrest that I was not even sure moving in to the month of December would even be joyous. My hope is that we can
put our differences aside and trim the tree together. Let's play as we did when we were kids. Shall we?

Featured Faces and Friendship Friday...12/7/12

Hello one and all. It is late afternoon or early evening here and I am just settling down with my red blanket and watching the Santa Clause. I have seen it a thousand times but it still makes me smile.

Anyway, I am only up for Friendship Friday this week and of course my two Featured Friday Followers. So, on to it.

Question of the week is...What are your favorite holiday traditions?

One of my Mother's trees from last year -2011

 Well, in the last few years the traditions I have had my entire life have changed because of family changes. However, some of the things we did when I was a kid was we would go to Midnight Mass and then come home and "sleep" for 2 hours only to get up, (there was a whole traditional thing for my parents before they would release us from our room but that is for another time). Once up, we first would light the Advent wreath and the open presents with immediate family. Then we would go to my Grandparents and have Christmas with them and the extended family and have breakfast.  Grandpa would joke there were no presents or he shot Santa or something...Grandma would yell at him to not tell us that stuff. We would then come home and crash. lol

My kids and some of the nieces and nephews a few years ago.

Another thing that my Mother and Dad always did every year was have a Christmas party for family and friends. I will be telling a video story about part of this tradition on Sunday. Until then, I can tell you this was a much look-forward to event every year by anybody that had ever attended.

There are so many things that our family did traditionally but alas, those things are pretty much non-existent this year. Our family (immediate and extended) is spread out all over the country and even part of the world and life has changed.  I suppose we have to make new traditions.

PS. I want to acknowledge that today is Pearl Harbor day. I honor these people who lost their lives in such a surprise attack. Many of the people that did survive are now passing on. However, as long as people like my husband remembers them, they will not be forgotten. Thank you.

Winter/Snow...

Hello everybody. I am getting here a little late in the evening for my daily post but you will forgive me...right?

Anyway, there are 21 days left until Christmas and loads of blogging to do.  Today's theme is about winter/snow. 

Trivia
1. The largest recorded snowflake is 15 inches wide.
2. It is a misnomer that it has to be 32 degrees for it to snow. It has been know to snow in the mid-40's.
3. In the Winter of 1779-1780, it was so cold that ice was piled 20 ft. high and did not melt until Spring. The Chesapeake Bay and Potomac Rivers were frozen solid. People could walk on them without falling through.
4. Snow is seen as white because its shape does not allow the absorption of light and beams white.
5. No two snowflakes are shaped the same way.

The second video I am sharing with you today is one I did back a couple of years ago. It is on how to make paper snowflakes. It was pretty fun to do and I think you might enjoy as well. If you do make some, take a photo and let me see!

Welcome to December Kickoff!

So here we are finally at the last month of the year. It seems like it got here so quick and yet, I am glad it is here!

As promised I have some exciting...well, I think they are exciting...things for you everyday this month. Make sure you come back daily to check out what is new.

Some of the things I am going to do for you everyday is post a holiday tune for you. There are several holidays celebrated this month and lots of music to go with it. Just an FYI-Mondays are a biggie! Also, I am going to give you a bit of trivia too.

Saturdays will be Silly Christmas cartoons!

On Sundays there will be a personal Christmas story told to you through video by yours truly.  I hope you like my story telling.

Of course there will be other stuff too. I simply can't reveal everything can I? Ha ha

Christmas Part 3...Mondays Music

The ultimate "gifts" to give...Top 10

Today over at Beth's meme of Top 10, she asks us to list those things we wished we could give to others if we absolutely could. I really had to think a moment about this...not too long, but a moment. What would I give or wish for another.

1. I would want to give my daughter a new baby to call her own. She lost a baby 3 years ago and has wanted one ever since.

2. I would also give my daughter a huge plot of land and a huge home to build the orphanage she has always wanted to have. She has always wanted to have a place where children without parents could come and live together in a loving home.

 
3. I would give every child that does not have a place to call home or parents to love them, my daughter to be their Mother.

Adopt Us Kids

4. I would give my son a house for him and his family that is large and debt free for him, so he would no longer have to struggle and worry about a place to live.

5. I would give unlimited funding to both my children so they never had to worry about a place to live or getting things paid.

6. I would give my hubby a dream job so that he could support us and be able to feel whole again.

7. I would set up a trust fund for my Grand-baby to go to college on.

8. I do wish that I could bring back my Dad and my Grandma just so that all of us could be with them for a little longer. I know this is not something within my actual grasp but this is truly heavy on my heart these last few day.  I suppose along this lines then, I would want to make my Mother's Christmas as beautiful as possible so she can get through this.

9. I would give my hubby and my daughter-in-law driver's license and a brand new car to go with it.

10. I would find the cures for all diseases of the world. My nephew would never have to suffer from leukemia again or my friends and family suffer from cancer.
