Monday's Music Moves Me

Hello everyone and welcome to Monday's Music Moves Me hosted by the divine, Xmas Dolly. This is one of my favorite days for blogging because I get to move and groove to the tunes.

As you can possibly see (unless you are actually reading this on Monday or after), I have posted a day early. I am not sure exactly why except that I am just excited to dance, dance, DANCE! Whoot!

Photobucket

This week is a free week, which is always fun.  So, I thought what should I do? Hmmm? My hubby and I were out playing at the park near some lovely ponds today and it was very hot. However, all the elements were in play so...let's do a dedication to the elements of earth, wind, fire and water. Let's Start groovin' with this one: (smiles)

Next up is Earth (note, I found this video and never had heard it before today. It is haunting and you can't dance to it but poses good questions):

Let's go with wind next:

Now fire:

And finally, that cool refreshing water:

Keep on rockin' and boog-ing...Naila Moon

Top 10 List...Thursday July 28, 2011

It is Thursday and that can only mean it is Top 10 day hosted by Beth. This week she asked for our top ten things we would most like to have or do if our finances would allow for that to happen. The only stipulation was that these things would have to be a true reality...aka, no yachts, mansions etc.  So, without further ado, here are my top ten in no particular order.

  1. One of the things Beth mentioned was her propensity to Salvation Army furniture. As I can TOTALLY relate to that, I think I would like to have brand new living room furniture. I mean the works, right down to the new entertainment center.
  2. Following along those same lines, I would like to have a huge flat screen TV. I was thinking at first that I would have it mounted  on the wall but since I am buying the new entertainment center...ha!
  3. I suppose I have to put on my list a deep freezer full of meats and vegetables.  I have always wanted a deep freezer just so that I could do this.
  4. As funny as this may sound, I would buy a "real" cell phone. All we have is a Cricket phone and although I have no beef with Cricket it just does not seem like a "real" phone. I want an I-phone.
  5. Since I am on technology, I want an I-Pad too. A friend of mine showed me her I-Pad which was the first version.  I was ever so enthralled with it. Since you can also get a Kindle with it included I do not need to put that on this list as well. hee hee
  6. As I love photography, I was a new digital camera. I am talking the kind where you can change the lenses out.  I suppose I need a new camera bag too. Wait...should that have been #7?
  7. I really need and want a new car. My daughter owns a VW Bug (the new versions) and it is incredibly cute. Yep, I want one of those too. Say it red maybe?
  8. I mentioned awhile back that I want to go to Hawaii. That idea has not wavered.
  9. One thing I would really like to do is to be able to donate significant amounts of money to my favorite charities; American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, The Red Cross and Muscular Dystrophy Association.  I would also donate to others as I could.
  10. I suppose my last thing is new clothes. Who doesn't want new clothes?

  11. Until next time...peace, Naila Moon

Monday's Music Moves Me-July 25, 2011

Once again it is Monday, one of my favorite days for blogging. Java from Never Growing Old has decided to take the rest of the summer off from Meet Me. Until then, I will keep on rockin' out with Xmas Dolly's Monday's Music Moves Me

Spotlight Dancers

This weeks theme is favorite TV show themes.

Now as easy as that may seem, it isn't. I thought of about 10 right off the top. However, I will limit them to 3! hee hee

Ok, off the top of my head was a favorite of mine in the 80's. Recognize it?

Next I am going to go back to my childhood to this one:

And the third one, as promised, I will round out this week with a snap:

Keep Rockin'! Peace....Naila Moon

Music Moves Me-July 18, 2011

Once again it is Monday, one of my favorite days for blogging.  It seems Java at Never Growing Old is still taking vacation time from Meet Me so, we will just keep dancing to the music until she gets back.

This week at Xmas Dolly's Music Moves Me, it is freebie week.
Since many people are on vacation (and I need one), I thought I would give a nod to those people by starting off with this:

Next up is a "vacation" song some students wish for:

And finally, let's round out this musical vacation with this one:

Keep on rockin' and boogie-ing. See you next week.

Is it a Harry Potter weekend for you?

Well, here we are. It has now been a full day since the last of the Harry Potter films has opened.

I am giddy with excitement. Whoo hoo!!!!!!

Ok, so I lied.  Seriously, I just saw the first of the two part movies just last night on (gasp) DVD.  My husband and I did not want to watch it when it first came out a year ago because we did not want to wait so long to see the next part. The first part was long in parts but cool. It ended at a section that seemed right too.

We will probably go see the second part sometime here shortly but I am not all crazy like some people I know. (For the record, I babysat so that my son and daughter-in-law could go to a midnight first showing of the movie.) Oh, don't get me wrong, I have liked everyone of the previous movies (and we own them). I will even go so far as to say that I have seen them more than once.

The brutally honest truth is that I have never read even one of the books. Now, I know some people would say that is total sacrilege and they cannot believe that to be so. However, it is true!  I have started the first book and have read about three chapters. It is on my list of things to do this year. So, I will get to it...really, I will. Right after I read the 3-4 other books I have to read, wash the laundry, pick up the mail, do the dishes, take a shower, feed the cat...um.....

Have a great Harry Potter weekend.

Monday's Music Moves Me

I am back and in full swing ok, almost anyway, and today is one of my favorite days for blogging. Meet Me Monday with  Java is cancelled for this week. So, I will just be rocking out with Xmas Dolly at Music Moves Me.

Photobucket

This week's music is Patriotic Songs or Broadway Tunes.
I will probably present both to you but I am starting off with one of my favorite Broadway plays and songs. (I have seen the movie version, professional version and college version. Think I like it? *grins* )
Here it is:

To keep rockin' on next up: The dancing and music cannot be compared to the next video. I have seen a Broadway version of this one too.

This one is one of my favs as well. We could use a little of this!

There are so many Broadway musicals I love and I could post all day. However, to get that patriotic one in too, I will finish up with this one. Peace...Naila Moon

Top 10 Thursday... a little late...brought to you by the letter "G"

Since I have been off track for a few weeks, I thought I would try to get back to some consistency by doing the Top 10 List of the week. (of course I am late posting this too!)

This week is supposed to be things that are gadgets or gewgaws that start with the letter "G". Interesting...so here are mine (kind of tweaked):

1. GOOGLE-oh my gosh, this is like my best friend on the net.

2. Grieve-although, I am sure this would not make my list any other time, this is certainly where I am at with the passing of both Grandma and Dad within two months of each other.

3. Grape Jelly-love the stuff mixed in with peanut butter!

4. Goop-have you ever played with this stuff. Kids love it! (uh-hmm and adults) It is so easy to make too. Goop Recipe

5. Giving gifts-I love to receive gifts but I REALLY love giving them. I like to see the looks on the receivers face.

6. Gourmet gadgets-ok, so I cheated a little here but it does work! Seriously, I am not that in to having all the gadgets for the kitchen but boy my husband is! The more the better.

7. Gah!-my favorite word these days. LOL

8. Gems-what woman (or man) does not like pretty gems. I love blue sapphires, diamonds, rubies and...

9. Garnet-I have to like garnet. After all, it is my birthstone. ;)

10. Games-there are several games I like including Scrabble, Yahtzee, poker, Sorry...ummm

Hope you liked this list!

Update from June 16th list:
1. Go to the zoo DONE
2. Go to Grant's Farm
3. Make those home made Christmas cards for my family and friends.
4. Buy a couch

Did you practice your oohh and ahhhs before the big moment?/Update

Yesterday was July 4th...Happy Birthday USA!
Tamirisc and I sat outside (getting bit by mosquitoes) and enjoyed the shows around Po Dunk. Some people really put on a show too! Whoo.

Anyway, as I sat there (wishing I had bug spray), I could not help to think of how grateful I am to live in a country where I am free. Free to say want I want and live how I want...that is, within reason.

It is a privilege to live here and have those freedoms but yet, we have to take them with responsibility too. Hurting others with our words and our actions is not what having freedom is about nor what I think anyone should be about. I believe we need to take care of each other and be kind to each other. Having said that though, as a nation, we can only do so much.  What I am really talking about is in our own homes...a responsible freedom starts there.

Anyway, I am a grateful citizen and again, Happy Birthday USA. See you again for your birthday next year but maybe with some cake!

Update:
I am still reeling from the events in the last week and last few months. It has been difficult to say the least on my family. I thank you to those who have sent kind words...especially to those that feel my pain at this time because you can relate.

I hope to get back to regular blogging in the next week.

Peace...Naila Moon
