Song-suasion 2/28/15

Here it is another Saturday. I am joining one of my musical buds, Cathy, from curiousasacathy.com for another day of musical bliss. Go by to see her because she is sharing a singer that I introduced last week. She will knock your socks off!

Now, for my song for today places this singer right in the middle of a Summer concert. Since it has been so cold lately this works for me. Enjoy! ~Naila Moon

#Review: V'daria Essential Oil-Lavender

In the past I have used essential oils for different things. It is amazing what ailments and other things the different oils can do for you.

I recently received the V'daria Essential Oil in lavender. Lavender is not something I had tried before and it would be a nice change of pace.

After all, look at all the things the lavender essential oil is great for:
Pain Relief
Headaches and Migraines
Muscle aches and sprains
Menstrual cramps
Allergies
Asthma
Relaxation
Anxiety
Depression
Inducing sleep
Digestive distress, gas and colic
Inflammation
Burns
Insect bites
Chicken Pox
Acne treatment
Dermatitis
Insect repellent
Dry skin
Muscle relaxant

This oil is 100% pure oil and you can certainly tell it once you open the bottle. The smell permeates the air before you even take a drop out of the bottle.

I used just a drop on my sleep mask which not only helped relax me but certainly help me sleep too. I also added a couple of drops to an unscented candle. Once it was lit, the lavender smell filled my apartment. Even with the candle unlit, I can still smell the lavender oil that is infused it it.

With so many uses, why would I not want a bottle of this. The cap is designed so you don't use too much which is a win in my book as it will last awhile.

The only thing I do suggest is do a bit of homework and really find out about its properties and uses. I suggest even consulting a aromatherapist, of which I am not, before using. Even so, you cannot go wrong with this. Great stuff!

#Review: NES Digital Thermometer

Many of us have been sick this year. It seems like it has lingered on forever! Coughing, sneezing, chills, rashes, fevers have been just the tip of the iceberg for many of us.

No worries, I feel fine now.
I have needed a thermometer for awhile and was glad when I got the NES Digital Thermometer.
I remember when we had the old kind you had to dip in alcohol then shake and hope it works right.
Not this one!

Simple to use of course, push the button and look for the "L", put it on the right or left side of your mouth and listen for the 4 beeps which tells you it is done. Then look to see what your temp is. The LED display is clear too.
Easy peazy!

The nice thing about this thermometer is the colors as you can easily find it in a drawer. Also it has a flexible tip for taking temps other than the mouth. Yes, the instructions that come with it do tell you this.

The NES Digital Thermometer also has a memory function that keeps track of the last temp taken. That is a plus if you need to have this information.

Oh, and one last thing, the clear plastic case it comes in makes me reassured that I will have a clean thermometer the next time I use it.

Disclosure: I received this thermometer with a coupon off for purchase. The views expressed here are 100% my own and may differ from yours. ~Naila Moon

Monday's Music Moves Me...It's A Freebie 2/23/15

Hey, it's Monday! That means it's time for another whirlwind of music by the Monday's Music Moves Me gals. You know us...hosted by Xmas Dolly and co-hosted by Stacy, Colette, and yours truly.

Before I get started here, don't forget that special link up we have for getting your social media noticed. Only link up where you need some followers. Music link is below my videos.

So, this week we have a freebie week and I thought I would have a little fun with ya all.

Living in the city we have people from all walks of life here. It is not so unusual to see street performers of all kinds. Some good, some not so good but all just trying to make a buck so they can live another day. Today, I thought I would share some street performers I have found videos for from around the net.

First up: These three guys randomly get together to perform one awesome performance. It had me swinging back and forth.

Next up: I was absolutely floored (or is that street-ed) by this next guy. I mean who knew that flip flops and PVC could make this sound. It is about 10 minutes long but well worth it! I present, The Pipe Guy!

Finally: This girl has the pipes and I don't mean like the guy above. She can belt out a tune like nobodies business. It is just too bad more people were not paying attention to her.

That's it for this week. Make sure to link up and we will be by to visit. ~Naila Moon

#Review: Lifeguard Mini 1 Portable Charger #pluslifeguard

If you are like me, you have a lot of devices that have to be kept charged or they simply stop working. Take for the example my cell phone. There is nothing more bothersome than being in the middle of an important call and that battery dies.

I have been in situations where there was an emergency too. The last thing I want to happen is my cell phone having no charge when I am out in the middle of nowhere and in an emergency situation.

I also use my Kindle quite a bit and like to have it charged up. I have been known on occasion to be reading a fantastic book and all of a sudden the device goes dead. Aggravation ensues to have to wait to charge and then finish my book. Any book lover can feel that pain.

That is why I was glad to receive the Lifeguard Mini 1 Portable Charger.  This wonderful little device is what you want to have on hand at all times. The Lifeguard Mini can either give the owner a quick boost in power or give full charge.

I tried it out on my Kindle when it was nearly powerless and within seconds my Kindle had juice to keep it going. I also tried it on my husband's cell phone and it powered up right away. Amazing!

The instruction do say to keep the Lifeguard Mini charged too so that if I would ever need it for emergency purposes or otherwise, it is ready to go. Get this, it can be recharged 800 times!

There are two different cables that come with the device so pretty much any technology I might have can be charged by this. My cell, Kindle, mp3 player, even my camera can get charged. The input/output spaces are clearly marked on the end which pretty much leaves it to be a no brainier for users.

Here is what the company has to say:
  • Smart plug and play Samsung built in grade A battery
  • Fully charge your phone and still have juice with the 3000m Ah
  • Quick charge or full charge within 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours
  • Tough aluminium shell that makes it impact resistant
  • CE, ROHS, and FCC certified
  • Purchasing now will get you a free lightning cable for convience with iPhones
  • Guaranteed for 18 months with a money-back guarantee

Seriously, with all this charged-up goodness, why would you not want one?

Disclosure: I purchased this item with a coupon given to me by the company for my open and honest opinion. The views expressed here are 100% my own and may differ from yours. ~Naila Moon

Song-suasion...2/21/15

Here it is another Saturday and it is snowing again. I am not complaining by far as we have had it mild compared to other states.
I am joining one of my musical buds, Cathy, from curiousasacathy.com for another day of musical bliss.

So, let's see what I have for you.

I was thinking about time today. It is crazy how quickly  it passes. Here we are in the Lenten season already and not too long ago it was just Christmas season. People have said it seems to go faster when you are older. I am beginning to think those people are right! Ah well...

So, my song for you today is about time. Enjoy and see you tomorrow! ~Naila Moon

#+Review: Francois et Mimi Stacking Mug Set with Metal Stand #StackingMugSet

Sometimes my husband and I like to just chat in the morning, like this morning, before he heads off to work.  He usually has a hot cup of coffee while I, not being a morning person, will drink Pepsi. Yes, that is me having my morning cup of Pepsi in our new stacking mugs.

My husband and his cup of coffee.

I just received these a few days ago and we really do like them. They come in a stack of four with these gorgeous bright colors of orange, yellow, blue, and pink. What I like too is the funky mix of the colored handles. It just make drinking out of them that much more fun.

I like that they also come with this metal stand which is absolutely great for us as we have so little cabinet space in our kitchen. I have them sitting by our coffee pot where Tamirisc can just grab one and pour. They come out of the stand so easily that this is not a problem at all.

See that little lip on the bottom of my mug? That little lip is on each and every mug which allows the mugs to stack so nicely in the metal stand. This is certainly a nice thing about these. Also, the mugs are wide so when we pour our favorite drink in one, we are sure to get a good amount which amounts to ounces in every mug.

If I have not convinced you enough about the Stacking Mug Set and how great they are, then here is a few more things from the company.
  • Lead free
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Microwave safe
  • Space saving
  • Colorful designs
  • Made of Stoneware
What are you waiting for go purchase your own set now. I know they will look great in your kitchen, office, coffee table, or wherever you have them.

Disclosure: I was sent a stack of these mugs in exchange for my open and honest opinion. The view expressed here is 100% my own and may differ from yours. ~Naila Moon

Red Faced... a poem. (Mama Kat prompt inspired)

Red Faced
by MR/aka Naila Moon
All rights reserved 2015

Gently I looked out my window onto the horizon.

There I saw her,
hair dirty,
clothes unkempt,
and holes in her blue jean pockets.

She was just a wisp of a thing.
She moved slowly.
Obviously,
the world was bearing down on her shoulders.

I watched her.
Children ran by,
cars avoided her,
and people walked by
not noticing.

Or did they?

I did,
and my face went red,
the heat bellowing,
to the depths
of my soul.

It hurt me to know
that this woman,
this lost soul,
was looking for food,
in my garbage container
just outside my window.

It hurt me to know
that she just wanted someone
to see her,
to notice her,
as they ran by,
not caring,

I did.
I cared.

But by the time I took
action,
she was gone.

Life had moved on
for her.

For me,
time stood still
for a moment.

Once again,
my face went red,
as I realized,
I have a good life.

#Review & #Giveaway: Slow Cooker Recipes For Beginners Cookbook #slowcooker #cookbooks

I was asked to review this cook book with recipes for slow cookers or as many or us call them, Crock Pots. I was a bit excited because although I use my slow cooker, I do not use it that much as I only know a few things to make in it.

Since the title said recipes for beginners and it said recipes to lose weight fast, I thought this might ideal for me. Unfortunately, that is where it began and ended. I do have some positives and negatives about the book, so let me tell you about them.

First the negatives:

The book began explaining what a slow cooker is and isn't. I thought this whole page a waste of space because if you have the slow cooker to begin with, you know what it is for, or at least I hope so.

Next the recipes were not for beginners. Although detailed in step by step, they were by far not for someone who had never used a slow cooker before. Some of the ingredients were downright complicated.

I simply could not see how these recipes were for losing weight. Many contained beef, lots of cheeses and other ingredients that would not mesh with weight loss.

Lastly, the book contained zero pictures to show what the finished product might look like. Many people that use cookbooks want this.

Now, the positives:

The recipes were complete and looked rather tasty. In fact, I highlighted a few for future reference. The step by step is there but more for an advanced cook.

The book was divide well into different sections. The book can also be used by vegetarians or meat eaters. There is a whole section of vegetarian recipes.

In the back of the book was a list of measurements which I found to be very helpful as half the time, I do not know and it is a good reference tool.

Complete meals can be made with this cookbook including some great desserts.

Overall, I think with a few changes, this book would be great addition to the cooking experience.

The sponsor is giving away one of these cook books to one of my readers. Enter below for your chance to win.

Disclosure: I received a Kindle copy of this book to review. The opinions exxpressed here are 100% my own. ~Naila Moon

Monday's Music Moves Me...TV Themes to hit Top 40 2/16/15 #MondaysMusicMovesMe

Hey, it's Monday! That means it's time for another whirlwind of music by the Monday's Music Moves Me gals. You know us...hosted by Xmas Dolly and co-hosted by Stacy, Colette, and yours truly.

Where is Becca you say? Well, sadly, she has taken off to do other things and will not be returning. I wish you well. Since she is a huge Disney fan, this song is for her...

Before we get into more music, like we have done the last few weeks, we have a social media follow here. Just link up where you want us to follow and we will be by.  Make sure to show your name and what we are following. It helps so that we don't repeat.

So...this week, we have a theme which has been a bit tricky for me. Translated into, I could not think of a thing. However, I prevailed! The theme is: Television themes that became Top 40 hits.

So after a little bit of investigation and admittedly making sure I was not repeating anyone else, I came up with these.

First up: Even though today, these boys would not at all be politically correct, I did watch their show full of cars chases, bad cops, and of course cousins, Daisy Dukes. I am talking about, "The Duke's of Hazzard". Their theme song by Waylon Jennings hit #21 in 1980.

Next up: Meant to poke fun at Super Heroes, this show featured a professor who found a suit that made him an instant super hero, the only thing is, he lost the instruction of how to use the suit. oops!
Written by Joey Scarbury this theme song hit #2 on the charts in 1981. I give you the "Greatest American Hero" theme song.

Finally: In the early 1980's...1981 to be exact... a TV show hit the airwaves to pay homage to the 1970's era. It brought about a little show called WKRP that made the love affair of '70s music kept alive.  Although, in truth this song only by Steven Carlise made #65 it is still worthy to be on my list.

Song-suasion...2/14/15 Who sings it best and Valentine's Day

Here it is another Saturday and none other than Valentine's Day too. I am joining one of my musical buds, Cathy, from curiousasacathy.com for another day of musical bliss.

Now usually I post just one song but today, I will be posting several of the same song plus at the end I would be ad missed not to post a V-day song. So, be fair warned. So, here we go.

I know that many of us are probably sick of hearing the song, "Let It Go" but in all seriousness, there have been some pretty cool renditions which I want to share.

This first one, I shared not long ago for Monday's Music Moves Me. It "spoke" volumes to me!

Next one I just recently heard, it to is an amazing rendition. I love the tribal sound in this version.

How about this version from Jimmy Fallon's tonight show.

Last one from Disney itself.

So, what is your favorite? Tell me in comments.

Finally, as promised a Valentine's Day song...
Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Saturday! ~Naila Moon

Review: GeckoTech Reusable Hooks and HP260 Packaging Tape #shopletreviews

I have spoken to you before about how much I love office supplies. Call it a thing with me, if you will. I simply cannot get enough of them. My home office is proof of that.

I also happen to like gadget-y things too. If it suits my purposes, I will buy it. That is why I was pretty happy when I received a new box from Shoplet.com the duo of what I enjoy having.

First was these GeckoTech Reusable Hooks. I received one that holds no more than 5lbs and one that holds no more than 3lbs. What is nice about these is that they leave no damage on your walls like a nail would, no sticky residue, and they are waterproof. They are usable on many surfaces.

Now, I cannot attest to the waterproof part as I did not try it out but I did try the 5lb one on the back of my door. It stuck nicely and came off nicely too. However, I do have to say that it warns not to put more than recommended weight for each hook.  This statement is true in some regard but I would almost say even less weight than recommended. When I put a much lighter bag on the hook, it fell off my door.

I could say this was due to the fact the door is slightly ridged and I could only clean the door with a different product than the recommended cleaning alcohol. This may make a difference and I will try again in the future in a different area.

Moving on. I also received a thing of 22 yards of packaging tape. Now, this made me giddy. Seriously! I use packaging tape for everything. I use it for sending packages to art work.

This clear packaging tape is wonderful and strong as you would expect from the Duck brand. It is called the HP260 Packaging Tape and I love it! Ironically, I had just run out of packaging tape and needed to send the box you see above. Good timing, ey?

Right on the packaging it says it is "whisper quiet". Well, I put that to the test. I tried using it while my husband was asleep near by. Usually, when you pull out the tape it makes a sort of ripping sound. Well, I am here to tell you, when I tried it out, It didn't! Not one peep from the tape and not a peep from my sleeping husband either. Again, great stuff!

That is it for now. Go stock up for your home office and thank you shoplet!

Disclosure: I received these products from shoplet.com for my open and honest review. The views expressed here are 100% my own and may differ from yours. ~Naila Moon

25 Things I Have Done...2/13/15

Last Friday, I shared with you a few things I haven't done. This week I will share with you things I HAVE done...25 things to be exact. Ready?

Not in any particular order:

  1. I have  traveled to 48 states and three countries. I love to travel!
  2. I have gone repelling off the side of 150 foot cliff. That was a bit insane.
  3. I have tasted ocean water from both sides of the country.
  4. I have been inside the catacombs in Italy.
  5. I shared a scarf as a "blanket" with someone when we were sleeping outside and it turned below 30 degrees after a 100 degree day.
  6. I saw Pope John Paul II, three times at close range.

  10. I have been in the crown of the Statue of Liberty.
  11. I have sat and watched Congress do whatever it is they are supposed to be doing. (They weren't.)
  12. I dated three guys at one time. Boy, was that stupid!
  13. I first drove a car when I was 12. It was a stick shift.
  14. I was a football manager for my high school football team.
  15. I toured as a assistant to a magician.
  16. I learned how to develop my own film at 12 years old.
  17. I have gone fly fishing and lost the pole in the river. It was my Grandpa's!
  18. I stayed the weekend at a convent.
  19. I stayed the weekend at a cloistered monastery for a silent retreat.
  20. I have given blood more times than I can count.
  21. I have had a blood transfusion.
  22. I have visited inside a Shriner's hospital.
  23. I have visited a school for the deaf.
  24. I played a nun in a Sound of Music adaptation.
  25. I have danced in the rain.
So, that is just 25 things from the myriad of things I have done. What have you done in your life. Tell me in comments. ~Naila Moon

8 Virtual Valentine's I Would Give Out This Year in 2015

I have never been a big Valentine's Day kind of gal, well at least not since my 20's. So, I never really wanted to celebrate the very Hallmark Card Holiday. Don't believe me? Ask my husband! Believe me, he has tried his best (really he has) to do whatever it is you are supposed to do on Valentine's Day.

I guess after six years of marriage to him, I have decided this year we can. He has to work on the big day, so, it won't be much. Still though...I have been thinking about it.

So, I guess if I am going to give out Valentine's this is whom I would give to. I have a list of eight.

1. Since Tamirisc has waited six whole years to change my mind, I suppose he gets the first one. SWAK!

Hope you loved it honey.

2. The next one would have been at number one but I just could not bring myself to push my hubby off that spot..um, yet...So, this next Valentine goes out to Sean Connery! I mean come on, he is sexy as they come for his age. He can be my Valentine any time! *swoons*

3. The next Valentine goes out to the Minions! I mean what is a Supreme Leader of the Known Universe to do without them? I will give them these Red Velvet Oreos and they will be happy as clams. Enjoy guys!

4. This special Valentine is going to Pepsi. Now you other sodas don't send me letters because I did not send you one too. It is just Pepsi is my favorite drink and well, dang it, deserves my love! There I said it.

5. To follow up with that last Valentine, I am giving one also to  Boone's Strawberry Hill Wine. I have drunk my share of you...even when I was not supposed to, uh hmm...we had good times together. Fond memories, oh yes. It is not like I can drink you ever again but ya know, you still deserve the Valentine. Thanks for the memories...or lack there of.

6. My next Valentine goes to my cheap Dollar Store monthly calendar planner. You are already red which suits this holiday well. Maybe I can put some of those cheap heart stickers I got from somewhere on you. Would that be appropriate, or too much? No matter, I adore you! Without you, I would be without a doubt lost.

7. The next goes out to my friend and rockin' "boss" Julie! For that matter all the other "bosses/supervisors *whether I cared for them or not*" , I have had over the years since I was 12 years old. Without you, I could not have bought crayons, markers, pens, glue, construction paper, suckers, tape, candy hearts or any other thing to make Valentines. Or for that matter to have had Pepsi, wine or well, ya know, food on the table. Thanks a ton for that one!

8. Finally, the last of the only 8 Valetine's I am giving out goes to all the social media sites that I am on and all the people that are in it. Without you all, I would not have the friendships, my husband, a job, and crazy life. Thanks, I adore each of you.

Much love, Naila Moon

Sincerely, PS. I am giving out one more Bonus Valentine because, well, I can. This one goes out to my Parents, family, and those I consider family.

My Parents love gave birth to me and what a special gift that is of life.

The rest of my family, kids, grand-kids, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, Grandparents, and folks who are not blood related but still family to me...have given me love in this life too and I am truly, truly grateful for it.
Besides, I know if I did not say something about all of you, you all would be calling me! lol

Dad, Grandma & Paw Paw, I miss you more than words can possibly say. Happy Valentine's Day wherever you are.

I love you all so much! ~M.
