Monday's Music Moves Me...We Got Awarded! #MWA #MondaysMusicMovesMe

Hey, hey, welcome back to Monday and another week of Monday's Music Moves Me. We are moving fast through the month of March which amazes me to know end. It seems like the older I get the faster time flies. Why is that?

Anyway, this week we have no theme which means I get to spin some tunes that I would like for you to hear. However, as it turns out, two weeks ago one among us, John, nominated the whole 4M Crew for an award.

The Music and Words Award was started by a lady that goes by Miss Andi to celebrate people who  post and write about music. I think that fits us, don't you? Needless to say, this will be a little different "freebie" post.

So of course there are rules by accepting this sort of award...wait, do I get a music note or something to put on my shelf? Do I get to give a speech?

 I digress...the rules...

Once accepted, the award process has five steps:
  1. Link back to the person who nominated you
  2. Answer the questions with words AND music
  3. Pass the award on to 5 bloggers who inspire you with their posts about music
  4. Tag your post with #MWA, for Music&Words Award so that we can all find you down the line
  5. Quote these 5 steps and the award icon in your post. You can display the icon on your sidebar as well.

Now, the music...

Q1: What does music mean to you?

I have always loved music ever since I can remember it was a part of me as much as books were. Growing up my parents had a whole room dedicated to books and music. I cannot say I live and breathe music but music has helped throughout the years to relate through emotions. Music touches my heart and soul in so many different ways.

I grew up knowing not just one genre, my family's tastes in music was varied and that made me love all music. I do have my favorites though.

When I went deaf, I mourned the loss of not being able to hear music. I am grateful that I regained 5% of my hearing because it was just enough to hear the music I so love.

Q2: What is your first music related memory?

Like I said above, I grew up with music in the house. My Dad was actually a (former) piano player who played in clubs. Only one time in my life did I ever him actually play. He would never play the piano because years before I was born, he broke his fingers in a car wreck, he said he would never play again. Yet, one day, we were at a friends house who had a baby grand. I thought the owner was playing the piano so I went in to listen, as it turns out, it was my Dad. He never knew I heard him. It was such a gift for me.

My Dad also liked opera but that is a story for another time.

I guess this isn't a first memory because I have many prior to this but this is the one that popped into my head so, I am going with it. ;)

Q3: What is the first album your purchased yourself?

It has been many years since I purchased an album for myself, so, it is hard to remember but I suppose it probably was one of three: The Monkees, Michael Jackson, or Prince (I had all of the versions of albums for all of these artist).

Q4: What is the latest music you purchased (cash purchase no download or online streaming)?

Hmm...this is a good question and a tough-y too. In the last year or sothe husband and I had been purchasing music albums from a thrift store to build a new collection. We would purchase anywhere between 7-9 albums at a time. We bought across the genres.

Let's go with...( I know we purchased an album by this singer but not sure it is this one.)

Q5: Which song did you listen to last (no cheating, spill it!)

Actually, while I was writing this blog post, I was listening to this singer.

Whew...ok, the my nominees are...

Cathy from Curious as Cathy, Alex J Cavanuagh, Be There 2 DayCreate With Joy, and Patrick from Weaseland

Totally agree with Stacy... but believe it or not I've always kind of been a Chris Brown fan ever since that Christmas movie he made.

That was fascinating to read Naila.
Especially about your father.
I'm so glad you can hear music again.

Thanks for sharing!
