Hello everybody. As usual, at this time of year, I become the crypt keeper during October. I usually have some theme related to Halloween. You can catch me here READING AUTHORS for some spooky reviews and some giveaways too.

It has been a long time since I played some tunes for Monday's Music. Today, Marie and her musical gals, are spinning the tunes about Autumn. That works for Halloween themes.

Hmm...I wonder what I could come up with. Let's see...

First up: This song and singer are new to me. He sings about November and it turning cold. It is a somewhat haunting song.

Next up: I always love me some John Coltrane. He is not spooky but boy, I love his sound. Here he serenades us into Autumn bliss.

Finally: I love the changes that always take place during the Fall. Singer, Ella Fitzgerald sings about Autumn in NY. You may recognize the great trumpeter and singer, Louis Armstrong, who accompanies her.

The Return of Thankful Thursday 9/26/13

I am very happy to be returning today to Thankful Thursday post. This is the day that I post what I have been most thankful for this week or evening at the present moment even though daily gratitude is a given for me.

In the past I have posted a song with my posts, I may or may not do that each week.
Join me will you? Just to make things simple, comment and I will come visit.

This week has been all about changes and renewal for me. The Fall always seems like that. The trees are turning, the clocks changing, and nature is hunkering down for a long winter.

I turn inward often. I begin to create again or at least it seems that way. My writing muse seems to be open and I want to create with my hands. I love this time.

My home reflects the changes too because I decorate for the holiday seasons. I love it so much. Everything about Fall brings me joy and I am so, so grateful for it.

Mondays Music...Oct 1, 2012

Welcome to the first day of October everyone! Have the trees turned for you yet? The trees here are being plain stubborn! Hmph!!

Well, since it is also Monday it is time to rock out with Xmas Dolly and the train crew for Mondays Music Moves Me.
Today is freebie day which means I play the tunes I like and hopefully you do too.

10 Thoughts Tuesday...Sept. 18th...I'm back!

Welcome back to 10 thoughts Tuesday. The day I give 10 random thoughts off the top of my head. Want to join in? Grab the thinker button and pop off your 10 on your page.  Here we go...






1. It feels good to be back blogging again. It seems I just needed some time away to regroup or whatever.

2. I found out for sure my daughter is having a boy. He is due in December. His name will be Parker. Cute right?

3. I love baby clothes shopping. Good thing I have little money or I would probably blow it all on baby clothes!

4. Did I tell you that Tamirisc and I are back in Colorado? It is good to be back here and not to have to share our place with anyone else.

5. Our apartment is huge! We have room to move and breathe.

6. The last 3 weeks before I moved back, I was sharing a room with my 2 year old grand-daughter. I loved being with her but sometimes her waking me up was...interesting.

7. I will have to blog another time about some of her "experiments" as I call them. Those are 2 year old challenges.

8. Have you read some of the crazy things happening in the world lately? Sometimes I think, "What are these people thinking?"

9. Do you know I have 3 other blogs? They are totally different than what you find here.

10. Do you like my 10 thoughts post? I know my friend Debra does, just wait, she will tell me so. lol

Top 10...Autumn

This week Beth at A Work In Progress asks us to name the top 10 things we love about Autumn. I share Beth's exuberance about Autumn because it is truly my favorite time of year. So, let's see...

1. The beautiful colors: what doesn't say Autumn than all the myriad of colors: oranges, reds, yellows and yes, green too! These are seen not only in the leaves but flowers too.
As a kid I loved jumping in all those beautiful leaves.

2.Fall festivals: In particular I like a local festival called the Apple Butter Festival. It is held in an old town by the name of Kimmswick right on the Mississippi River.  I am not fond of the apple butter but it is certainly fun to go there!

3. Eckert's Farm: This is also a local place just across the river. (They used to have a farm just south of me.) Here people can enjoy picking you own apples and in October pumpkins. The place has other activities to enjoy as well. 

4. Pumpkins: I love the sizes and shapes that pumpkins come in.  I do enjoy carving them too, although I will admit, I am not the greatest carver.   (Go Here or Here for carving ideas) There are so many things you can do with them in home decor too. 

5. Decorating:Who does not like decorating your house? Seriously! I enjoy fall decorum as much as I like touches of the Halloween stuff. I do not do gory or anything like that but I do have a 5 ft scarecrow. *chuckles* (For decorating ideas go Here)


6. Hay rides: As I used to live out in God's Country, hay rides was not so unusual. I did not live on a farm but I had friends who did.  I remember a very cold hayride at her place.

7. Bon fires: I have attended many a bon fire in my day. The tallest one ever was...I dunno really...but it was huge. We used to have them at our high school as part of the homecoming football game.

8. Football: I am  pretty partial to my teams...yes, teams...I love to watch a good game of professional ball. I actually learned how to play the game when I was football manager in high school. Once I knew the rules and such it was love. 

9. Holidays: Halloween is a great time to be a kid again. ( I found This fun thing on line)The last few years Tamirisc and I have gone to a Costume Ball. The past three we went to were family oriented. This year we are planning to go to one that is for adults only. Again, not the gory stuff...I do not like that.  If that isn't enough, I watch Charlie Brown specials too. (Told you, over grown kid here!)

Then of course Thanksgiving. What better time to remember and give thanks for all the blessings throughout the year. The last three years I have not been able to spend it with family. This year is to be different. However, I probably will also be serving dinner at my Mom's church to the needy that day...certainly to be a blessing in itself.

10. Feelings of excitement: Over all, Autumn just gives me a shot in the arm. The air is crisp and cooler. People are generally happier and  all of us know that soon other holidays are right around the corner. For me, life seems more pleasant.
