Experiment in February/Friday stuff!

February is heart healthy month. My husband had a heart attack the year before I met him. So, to say he needs to take care of his heart is an understatement. He did well for a few years but has slacked off. Yes, I get concerned about it.

My own health is another issue and just like everyone I know, it could also use some improvement and needs to be taken care of. So, for the month of February we have decided to do something about that as an experiment of sorts.

For the entire month we have decided to go vegetarian. I know that some of you out there are gasping at the notion. Others of you are clapping in rejoice as you have been all along. Suffice it to say, it is not the easiest of choices for us. We are meat eaters!

However, my husband and I are committed to this. We want to see if eating vegetarian will really make a difference. We want to see if it will make a difference in our grocery bill too. If we like the change, we may let the experiment go longer.

In preparation, we took our calendar and filled in meals for every day.  We looked up vegetarian meals online and in Pinterest. As it turns out, I have been saving recipes for a long time as my cousin is a vegetarian.Yesterday, Tamirisc went shopping for our first week. So, it is a go as of tomorrow.

I will blog how it goes and maybe share a recipe or two. Wish us luck.

#Giveaway:Samba, MD Posture Aid Seat

Disclosure: I received no compensation of any kind for this post but to help a friend. In any case, I only post things that I think my readers would like or I think is a good product.

Samba MD TM
Proprietary adjustable air core enables unique 5-in-1 performance, and the best
Wheelchair Cushion + Stability Seat + Posture Wedge + Tailbone Cushion + Prostate Seat ever!

Advantages of SambaMD – Breakthrough in E2622/3 cushion
  • I'm more comfortable during prolonged sitting, and just with a couple of puffs of air;
  • Prevents body from sinking. You know that feeling when you've been sitting in a chair too long, and you get up and it's like look at that sink hole. Well, that was from you. With the Samba MD you don't get that because of the air cushion inside, and just keeps you comfortable all day long.
  • Promotes better sitting posture. With this cushion you almost have to sit up straight because of the texture of the pillow. On a regular pillow it starts to form to your body, and you start to slouch. The Samba MD doesn't do that due to the air cushion.
  • Reduces physical inactivity. It keeps you comfortable enough that when you do go to move you're not so sore that you don't want to move.
  • Relieves back pain & fatigue. . Being a blogger for one you know we sit a lot and for long periods. When you even don't have back problems your back will start to ache from being in the same position to long, and without the proper cushion to sit on. Having Spinal Stenosis my back pain would not only go up my back, but down through the spine, and to the legs. If you have back problems you know exactly what I'm talking about. Another reason why I keep a stool under my desk.
  • Revitalizes sensitivity of the trunk. Okay, I'm not quite sure about revitalizes sensitivity of my trunk, but if this pillow revitalizes anything I'll vouch for it. I absolutely love this pillow. This pillow is good for everyone back problems or no. Watching TV, sitting at your desk, oh where was this pillow when I was a legal assistant sitting all day doing research. Receptionist, truck drivers, anyone that has to sit a long period of time I highly recommend the Samba MD.
  • Improves skin protection and circulation. Circulation yes mostly because of your legs I would say being on a soft cushion area instead of hard it does not stop your blood from flowing if on a hard surface, and then bending over. The only example I can think of believe it or not is did you ever sit on a bar stool and the seat ends in the middle of your thigh and you feel like your leg is going to fall asleep? Circulation... POOF! Not with the Samba MD.
  • Protects coccyx & prostate gland. Air cushion that doesn't go away. What more can I say. Nor goes out of shape.
  • Easy maintenance. You can take the pillow out and wipe it down if you like take out the air, and refresh it. You can also get a handi wipe and wipe off the leather side, and even vacuum the material side if you wish.
  • More functional, beneficial and affordable. AMEN!
  • 3 year 100% performance guarantee. YES, I SAID 3 whole years... not 1 as other products, but 3 year 100% performance guarantee. I mean come on people what more can you ask for. When I spoke with the representative of this company to be quite honest with you I thought he was a quack. Nothing can be that good that could make my back feel this good. Well, Patrick if you're reading this I was wrong and I apologize for thinking that way. This pillow is that good! Granted everyone is different, but this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

slide2_smrx
This Samba Md cushion is waterproof, non-skid, and has a 3 yr. Warranty, and it even has premium PU Leather & it was engineered in Canada. So have I talked you in to getting one yet? Did I tell you it comes in black, and the foam inside the pillow is Memory Foam and it's also Proprioceptive Aerostructure? Well, it does. Now you need to go to their website if you want to learn more, but the best part of this whole deal is they are offering one of my readers one of these fabulous seats today. All you have to do is enter below in our rafflecopter. This is a total prize of $289!
---------------------
Good luck! I think this product would be great to have too. I have degenerative arthritis and with back problems, I need relief!

The contest is open to both US and Canadian participants (One participant per household).

Thankful Thursday & A Song 1/30/14

Sometimes you do not want to be thankful. Sometimes you would just rather rage at the world. Sometimes things just do not seem to be going your way and gratefulness is the last thing on your mind. Sometimes...

Right now as I am blogging, I am not feeling so thankful. I guess it is because I am a bit angry at the moment for stupid stuff that will pass in a bit. Who wants to be thankful when you feel like that?

I suppose though, I should be thankful just for the right to have feelings and to be able to express them. Some people in this world, in particular women, have to squelch what they are feeling. If they stand up and scream or say that their feelings are hurt, they are abused or sometimes even killed.

I suppose being grateful for being angry seems odd but truth is, I can be if I want or need to be. I do not have to worry about the aforementioned. For that, I am grateful too.

Coming back into a balance of peace is always good and even right now, I am and will be grateful for that as well.

What are you thankful for today? Tell me.

What is going on in your neck of the Universe?

What's the weather?

I tweeted this today but I thought I would post it to my blog as well. This is what the weather looks like today here in Colorado. I took this photo early this afternoon. What snow is there is just because there is no sunshine right in that area.

#Blogathon2 Mini Challenge: Picmonkey Photos-Amelia

One of the mini challenges for the blogathon this weekend was to create a pinnable blog image from Picmonkey. Well, if you know me at all, you  know I use Picmonkey all of the time. In fact, I pay for the royalty features.
I was so lucky last year because I was able to have 6 months free. Oh, the joy!

Anyway, this was the challenge and I could not use something I had done before. Sooo....
I decided to take photos of my cat, Amelia and make a new blogger button (it is on my list of things to do).

However, which one to choose? I mean after all, look at all of this cuteness!

I ultimately decided to use none of those above and decided on this one instead. Can you tell what I might have done in Picmonkey? *chuckles*

So, be looking for her on my blog now and grab her to put on your blog. I would appreciate that!

Saturday Silliness: Cold!

I thought I would join Danielle from Royalegacy today. She was posting cold quotes over at her blog for Saturday silliness. Thinking this seems like a good topic since it seems everyone is cold somewhere here in the U.S., I would post 'cold ' cartoons.

Smiling

“Be generous with your smile and try not to frown.

And you will see my children; your smile will never let you down ☺”

Official Start of Biannual #Blogathon2

Here it is, the start of the Biannual Blogathon. I techincally only started an hour and a half ago, that would be 11:30AM MST, but there were a few issues. First of all, I woke up late. Great time for me to decide to sleep in. Then, of all days, Google went down!

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?! Why today of all days does Google have to go down?

Twitter was blowing up about Google being down. One Tweeter...if that is what you call a person who tweets...went so far as to say the world was coming to an end. Oh, good grief! Still, it was a problem especially to get "officially" going for the blogathon.

However, here I am and working away on day one of the blogathon. Here is what I have thus far on my agenda for the weekend:
1. Post giveaways for another blogger
2. Set up a giveaway for an author
3. Revamp this blog for Febraury
4. Write & prepost at least 3 blogs
5. Write a blog for follow Friday...hmm...does this count?
6. Clean up my Pinterest boards
7. Change my Twitter background
8. Add giveaways to my hubbies blog
9. Make another A-Z video
10. Review some of the books in my stack
11. Possibly work on the book I want to write
12. Organize my blogger book
13. Upload photos to my Facebook page
14. Pitch
15. Make a new blog button for my blog and fix the one for 4M's
16. Participate in Twitter parties
17. Take photo daily to tweet.
18. Host the aliens that have come to my house from another planet.
19. Kidding, just seeing if you are paying attention.

Bye for now...off to work.

Wordless(ish) Wednesday...1.22.14

For Wordless(ish) Wednesday, I thought I would just post an art journal page I did today.
The prompt for it was, "The Things That Make You Smile."

"Smile and the whole world smiles with you." Things that make me smile: family, baby, rain, flowers, old people (holding hands), bubbles, music, friends, ice cream, ocean, books, art, thrift (stores), letters(real), sunsets, snuggles.

I used an old folder and modge podged coffee filters over it. Then I splatters paint and water on top of that. I used paint sample photos for the sunflower and cat. I used a black marker and stencil and wrote in the words to each petal (this is hard to see but the words are above). The last thing used was scrapbook pieces I had.

What makes you smile? Tell me in a blog comment. Those make me smile too! :)

Friday Night Lateness Stuff

Hello all,
Today has been a busy day for some reason. In fact, a busy week. I am not sure why. I suppose I am playing catch up. I still seem to have a lingering cough and tired but at least I am on the mend and do not feel like death!

I thought I would just post my selfie post from this week. I have a total bohemian look going on.
This was before I got my hair chopped yesterday. I am not sure if I like my new do but I will have to live with it for now. Tamirisc says it is ok but then, I wonder how I would feel if he really hates it but is smart not to say anything. HA!

I Write the Songs on Monday's Music?

Here I am! *raises hands* Here I am!
Maybe you all think I have massive hangover from partying too much for my birthday yesterday. Or maybe...
Oh, who am I kidding. I am just plain oh, late to the dance floor today.

Truth is, the birthday was VERY quiet and really not much to talk about so...  Thanks though for all the well wishes and birthday greetings. I do appreciate them. Let's move on and dance the day away.OK?  Great!

So, today's theme is Songs in the Key of Your Life. I guess this means those highlighted days in song. How ironic for me huh?

Well, let's see...

I think I will start with the year I graduated from high school which was 1986. I did not really have any friends inside of school too much, but for sure a group of us outside of school.

This is my gang of friends and one of my brothers. Circa 1989/1990

Unknown to many people, I liked to party, not as much as my brothers but I did. I think this song fits. (Disclaimer: I was NOT like the song says though. I had my standards.)

Moving on...
In 1987 & in 1989...the two greatest gifts I ever received were born to me. My daughter and son. They are for sure a key to my life that I am ever so grateful for. They changed my life and its direction forever.
This song reminds me of them. It also happens to be my daughter's favorite song.

My kids with their kids.

In 2008, I met the love of my life. You all know him as Chronicles From the Man Cave. I know him as Mark or sometimes I refer to him as Tamirisc. It was a whirlwind of a romance that is now 5 years strong.
I of course need to include "our song" here.

In 2010 & 2012 two more precious ones entered my life. My grandbabies, Bella & Parker. I never would have thought I would be a Grandma so young. The are a beauty in my life that is indescribable.
This song, goes well for them.

I suppose I want to round this song medley key of life with this one. Life is precious and here we are in 2014 ready to rock a new day. Enjoy every minute of it and keep on movin'!
