I have been wracking my brain the last couple of weeks about what I was going to do for the A-Z challenge this year. I have decided to do both of my main blogs which could be an insane thing to do but that is why we have challenges.

On my Reading Authors blog, I have already decided to do book reviews which are all kid lit related. That makes total sense but this blog...

So, then just yesterday, it came to me. I have decided to do a music blog every day that corresponds with the letter of the day. It makes sense for me to do the two themes I absolutely love.

So, come back on April 1st as I kick off the A-Z Musical Extravaganza! *chuckles*

Sunday Sayings: Sunshine and International Women's Day

Good morning and happy Sunday! It has been a bit warmer here the last two days and I have seen some birds flying by. I hope that means Spring is on the horizon soon. There is still snow on the ground but I am hoping for some sunshine.

So, today is all about sunshine but it is also about International Women's Day. Across the world atrocities happen to women every day. Equality can only happen when men AND women work together to educate and respect.

Sunday Sayings: #Weather 2/8/15

To say we have had some weird weather across the U.S. is an understatement. Here in Colorado we had blizzard weather last week and today we have 64 degrees. Weird!

I am certainly not complaining about it. Oh, no, I love the temps right now but no it is no wonder why people have been sick.

So, as National Weather Person's Day was Feb. 5th. I thought today, I would expound upon you quotes about the weather.

Sunday Sayings: Decoration Day aka Memorial Day

Memorial Day is actually tomorrow. It originally was called Decoration Day and was a commemoration of the Union AND Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. Graves were taken care of, decorated, and families often reunited on the grounds to remember. 

The date of Decoration Day was chosen because no particular battle anniversary was on that day.   The southern states did not recognize this holiday until after WWI.

As years went by, the holiday was extended to include all military who have died serving our country and thus became Memorial Day. Memorial Day is to not remember the living soldiers but the dead and to be grateful for their ultimate sacrifice.

Coffee Chat...Inspirational Quotes 11/12/13

This week on coffee chat Rory is discussing inspirational quotes. Do you have one or two?
Is there a quote that resonates with you?

I actually had to think a bit on this one because there are many quotes that I have come across that I love or have hit me in such a way that I was moved by them.

Heck, this past April for a writing challenge, I used quotes as part of my thought process. I picked specific ones to reflect on and let them etch into my soul a bit.

Hmm...let me think...

I can relate to this in many ways. I have not kept it a secret that I have suffered from depression. When I was in my deepest darkest places sometimes I would listen to music. Often the music spoke to the way I was feeling or it would draw me out into the light. Either way, it was, as Maya Angelou said, "my refuge".
Music was a calming factor when I felt my world was crashing inward. It still is to this day something I look for.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

After I lost my hearing, I thought for awhile that I could never do anything again. My dreams were shattered and I was not sure what I was going to do. 
I found out that to dream another dream was ok. When I did that or at the very least hoped in the dream, doors were open to me that I could never have imagined. Wow!
