K is for...

"Knowledge speaks. Wisdom listens."

I have been around for 45 years now. I have had some of the finest professors in college and met top notch speakers.I have heard countless people speak or lecture on various topics. Some topics would even blow your mind.

I am not saying these things to toot my own horn.

All of these people, some as young as two years old, have great knowledge when they have spoken. I have learned something from each and every person I have ever met and listened to.

Yes, I truly believe everyone has something to teach me. Some things I have learned from others of what I do not want in life. Others have taught me important lessons. Yet, others have just informed me.

I listen. I gain wisdom.

What about you?

hmm.. I think I need to ponder a bit more on this one..
Whilst we learn from others we also learn much from and for ourselves.
Often when wisdom listens they don't 'hear' what knowledge says as effectively as if wisdom said it to themselves.
hmm.. Effective listening is a skill and many take years to master it.
good post, got me thinking. Good luck with rest of AtoZ and thanks for popping by.

Listening is a skill I think most of us lack. Apparently, we're too busy thinking about how we're going to reply, that most of us don't listen properly in the first place.

Much as I'd like to agree, a lot of people just talk talk talk and I'd don't think I learn. Some of the worst cases were teachers!

I agree! I love to listen to other people, hear their story and learn something from them!

I love listening to older people talk about how things used to be and tell family history. I agree with Rinelle and sometimes I am guilty of forming my reply before the speaker has finished blabbing. :)

Hello, Naila! As I get older and grow and change, I become more and more interested in what others have to say. There is much to learn when you close your mouth and open your ears.

I like your comparison between knowledge and information, but I do believe we can learn from both... I chose Knowledge too, it really is the key to growth.

Yes Naila, I agree everyone has something to teach. I tell my kids you always serve as an example of something. It can be a good example or a bad example, but you are an example. So in essence you are helping someone learn. What you learn and how you apply it, that involves wisdom. Good A to Z choice. God bless, Maria from Delight Directed Living

That is also true.
However, if you noticed, I said that I have often learned what I do not want or need. ;)

We are all guilty of it.
I like listening to old people sometimes too. They often have many stories to tell of a life lived.

Good choice. I try to learn and search for knowledge and hope to continue to do that my whole life. We can always learn more.
