October blog challenge-Day 30 & 31...the end!

Tamirisc and I on the way to the Ball

Here it is the end of the blog challenge and I made it! Whoot whoot! You learned a little about me as the days went on and it was all good! *grins* So here is the last two days of the challenge. Day 30 is actually not part of the 30 day challenge. I made it up! After all, there are 31 days in October...right?

Day 30-A motto or philosophy

I suppose the only motto I have ever lived by is to be good to the people you meet, attempt to see the best in people, live long, enjoy life and prosper. Or in the words of Spock (this is for my hubby ya know) "Live Long and Prosper. *snickers*

Day 31-Happy Halloween! If you could wear any costume in the world for Halloween what would it be.
Well, as I am over 40 now, I have worn many but I suppose I would love to wear something of the Medieval times as the dresses were long, flowing and often beautiful (at least for the rich). Oh and I would have to have a beautiful tiara because well, that is just me! lol

Bing Images (not my photo)

For real, I would love to wear the most beautiful wedding gown ever. I know that may seem like a crazy thing to say but I have never worn one...ever! Oh and of course that tiara! LOL

Enjoy the day, be good to each other and peace...Naila Moon

October blog challenge-Day 29-Goals for the next 365 days

Getting closer and closer to the last of the blog challenges...exciting right? Anyway, today is the 29th day of the 31 day challenge and it is what goals I have for the next 365 days. (Seems like I should be doing this New Year's Eve)

In all honesty I had not really thought too much about it. Sometimes I just like to live in "now moments" and let come what may. Other times I want to plan, plan, plan!

So, getting to it...
1. Get through this semester with GPA still intact.
2. Fly home to Missouri for Christmas and just relax and enjoy with Tamirisc, family and friends.
3. Help Tamirisc find a new job and one that fits him
4. Possibly find me a new job
5. Go to Hawaii
6. Set up a fund for my granddaughter
7. Have a real savings account
8. Help 12 people (one a month)
9. Buy new furniture
10. Visit my in-laws in California

October blog challenge-Day 28..A scar and the story

So today's blog challenge is day 28 and it is a scar I have and its story.
So obviously this is not it and only a joke.

No, actually I do have a couple few scars. I have one from when I had my babies and a couple from surgeries.  However, the one I want to share about is the one down my left leg.

When I was quite a bit younger around 8 to 10ish, I was playing outside as I did a lot.  My parents had a BBQ pit that they had permanently anchored in to the ground and often did bar-b-que  during the summers.

This particular year as I was playing, I inadvertently got my left leg up against the pit and burned my entire upper part of my leg. It left a nasty scar that I had for years.  As time went on it faded but would still appear in summers when I got tanned.

The irony is when I was 16 I burnt the same leg on my knee with hot coffee. Yet another scar. Go figure.

October blog challenge-Day 27...physical attribute

Almost to the end of this months blog challenge. Today is Day 27 and I am supposed to blog about a physical attribute I like.

It is all about his eyes.

When I meet someone I always look in to their eyes if at all possible. The eyes I have always felt are the window to a persons soul.  You can always tell what one is really thinking because their eyes will give it away.

One of the things I loved/love about Tamirisc is his eyes. I think they are expressive and have a love for me that no other has.
Yes, the eyes tell all.

My thoughts on a Post It Note...The Halloween Version

October blog challenge-Day 23 through Day 26

Wow, I am 3 days behind in the blog challenge. Does that mean I failed it?
I have a good excuse...homework! Enough said! Anyway, on to the challenges.
Where I last dropped off the face of the Earth was day 22. So without further ado...

Day 23-How you want to be remembered

Although this one may be a little morbid, I am not going to look at it that way.
I suppose I would like to be remembered as a good Mother,Wife, Grand-mother,Daughter, Aunt, and Sister. I would like people to remember me as someone who cared about other so deeply that sometimes I would cry. I want to be known as someone who cared about the Earth and most of all as someone who made a difference in the lives of others.

Day 24-A Movie No One Would Expect You To Love
I love so many movies but  I think I will go with this one:

Ok, it just cracks me up...what can I say!

Day 25-Recipe
I have a video one for you that I just recently did. You have to understand, my family does not think I can cook. So, I have been on a quest to prove them wrong.

And finally...Day 26-A Childhood Memory

I have so many memories of being a child but one of the best was during the summer months because that was the time of year my parents would take us on three week vacations to...well...everywhere!
One of my most favorite was in 1976 during the bi-centennial.
My parents planned for us to travel the original 13 colonies and end up in Pennsylvania for the ringing of the Liberty Bell. My Mom also had outfits made for all of us. The boys and Dad wore the knickers and three cornered hats and Mom and I wore long dresses, aprons and bonnets.
I know, I know, thinking about it now I suppose it was kind of cheesy but I can honestly say we are probably in scrap books all across the country and world because people did not realize we were tourist and were constantly taking pictures of us.
The other thing cool about this trip was meeting up with the wagon train that had traveled from California. Tat was truly cool.
All in all, I am grateful Mom and Dad for the many memories and trips of growing up.  I suppose that is why I like history so much. :)

October blog challenge-Day 21 — Web sites & small request

Today's blog challenge is kinda goofy I think for it really is not that much on creativity. However, as the challenge is to blog everyday, I guess it fits. So, the "challenge" today is to post a web site.

As this month is breast cancer awareness month I wanted to post the sites that go along with that:

Click to Give <----------------This site if you click on it daily will help underinsured or non-insured women to get a mammogram. Please click this one on and even put it on your blog to remind you.

Komen Site  <----------------Of course this site is most well known. It has loads of info.

National Breast Cancer <----------------Maybe not as well known but loads of info. and support especially   for just diagnosed

Mothers Helping Daughters <----------------I just found this site. It is all info. and support for Mother's out there who want to support their daughters who are fighting breast cancer.

American Cancer Society<------------This site is informative and supportive of all types of cancer.

Now for my request:  If you have been reading my blogs for awhile, you know that my Aunt M. has been fighting breast cancer since Dec. of last year 2009.  This year alone she has had chemo therapy (all summer long), double mastectomy and now is in what she calls the 3rd phase, radiation.  She just began radiation yesterday!

I cannot begin to tell you how much this breaks my heart. I can tell you though, her strength, her outlook, her hope in all of this trial has been...well, not only amazing but inspirational.  I am asking you to put her in prayer, good thought, good vibes or whatever it is you do for her today. As if she has not had enough, this 3rd phase is a further insult to her body...one no one should have to go through!

Thank you and peace and hope for a cure,
Peace...Naila Moon

October blog challenge-Day 21 — Something you know you do differently than most people

Day 21 — Something you know you do differently than most people

At first I was not sure what exactly it was I did differently than most but the answer came from my hubby!

What you may or may not know is that I am 95% deaf. I went deaf when I was 36 years old for an unknown reason. A couple of years later I received a cochlear implant.

This is not the one I received but similar.  If you would like to learn more go here.  cochlear implants

So, what I do differently is I hear differently. The cochlear allows sound through the processor for my brain to "hear". It works pretty well for me but sometimes I still have problems with basic hearing.

An example of that would be an incident today.

I work in a book store as a cashier. I deal with customers all day asking me questions as well. Today I had a woman from another country (with a HEAVY accent) come in. Let's just say I was unable to read her lips (which I also do pretty well) and due to her accent I simply could not understand what she needed. I had to ask another co-worker for help.

I also do not always hear or understand well on a phone. I do ok but not always great.

So, there you have it...I hear differently than most people.
How about you? What do you do differently?

October blog challenge-Day 20-A hobby I have

Day 20 of the blog challenge is a hobby of mine.
As I mentioned yesterday, I love to take photographs and have since before I was 12 years old. My Dad was newspaper photographer and taught me the "trade" so to speak.

A Rare and goofy photo I took of my Dad

I learned how to have an eye for photography and also how to develop my own film. This carried me through high school where I eventually was the year book head photographer and editor.  Here is a sample of some of my photos:

October blog challenge-Day 18 & 19

Day 18 of the October blog challenge-A time when I felt passionate and alive.
As I mentioned before Tamirisc and I married in 2008. This was the first time in  many years I had truly felt passionate and alive. There were other moments over the years that I felt passionate about something but maybe not as alive. Meeting him, falling for him and subsequently marrying him brought an aliveness that was almost dead.
Due to this one event, my life has renewed passion for the things I love.
-------------------------------------------------
Day 19- A talent of mine
Well, I actually have a few talents.
I sing (although, I have not been taped)

I can paint although, I suppose I really do not consider that a talent.

I write short stories and poetry.

I also have a talent in photography. I have been doing this since before I was 12 years old.

October blog challenge-Day 16 &17

Well, here is another two days of blogging for the challenge. Hope I can get back on track tomorrow.
Let see now where are we?

Day 16- This day is supposed to be a song that makes you cry.  I thought and thought about this one and it is hard to narrow one down. Seriously, there are songs that move me at different times but to nail one down is hard to do. So, I think I will just go with a song that moves me.  This song by Whitney Houston does just that.

On to day 17- Art piece
Today I would like to share with you some art that I do. I love to paint rocks. Yep, rocks. I started doing that several years ago when I was laid up in bed from a major surgery.  Since I moved to Condo Lane I have painted many rocks. Here are just a couple of the ones I have done.

October blog challenge-Day 13, 14 & 15

Well, I got a little behind in this blog challenge so I have to catch up. Please bare with me. :)

Day 13: A Guilty Pleasure
Hmm...well, I have to say that I really enjoy Pepsi. I truly think it is the elixir of the gods.

I can't say though that it makes me feel guilty drinking it. I do have a love/hate relationship with it though. Do not believe me? Go here---> Killer Files
I suppose it would be my hubby that gives me the most guilt when it comes to Pepsi. He gives me the "Mom" look. You know that look, don't you?

On to Day 14-A vacation you would like to take

This one is quite easy and one Tamirisc and I are planning to take next year. (crosses fingers) Hawaii is only one of two states I have never been to. He has an aunt who lives there and would show us around. Oh, I hope to go!

See that spot right there, that is where I want to sit!!!
I so want to see an active volcano and take pics of it! (this is a travel pic)

Day 15 — A person you admire

There are actually a few people I admire (in no particular order):

Gandhi believed in non-violence and resolving things peacefully.

Mother Teresa one of the most peaceful and loving persons of our times. She took care and loved the poor of India and around the world. Every person she met was seen as a person not from what they were afflicted by.

Princess Diana, although royalty, she worked to clear land mines and worked for peacefulness. She was a princess of the people, was a loving Mother and had a good heart.

Martin Luther King worked for  equality and justice for all people no matter their color. He too worked for peacefulness among all people.

Can you see a piece of me in the people I admire? Can you also see that they all died untimely deaths?

The last person I admire is my husband. I admire his courage to change, courage to move forward even when he might be scared to do so. I admire him for taking on such a big responsibility when he married me. I am forever grateful.

October blog challenge-Day 12...wedding music

Day 12's blog challenge is a simple one because it is what music would you like played at your wedding or if you are  not married what would you like.
Well, as Tamirisc and I married Christmas Day in 2008 in a REALLY small and intimate wedding. We only had two pieces of music.

Photo taken of us by my daughter, Natasha...one of the best days of my life.Christmas Day 2008

The one piece that says the most about us is Heart's "Anything is Possible".
Apart we are only individuals but together we are strong and can accomplish anything because anything is possible with us together.

Well, today is day 11 of the October blog challenge and it just so happens to be a follow-up to yesterday challenge. I am suppose to post a photo taken of me recently.  *digs through photos*
Just kidding! Tamirisc loves to take photos of me all the time (he took the above photo of me at last Halloween). So, I have a couple to share with you.

Meet Me Monday-October 11, 2010

Here it is another Monday and that means "Meet Me Monday" brought to you by the letter "J"...no, no I mean brought to you by the ever lovely Java of "Never Growing Old.
This is easy folks. Answer the questions, link up and learn something new about your neighbors. Easy huh?

1.  Do your pants get hung on a hangar or folded?
Well, I actually always hang my pants and jeans up because I have no room in dresser drawers. (We have little drawers)

2.  If you are stranded on an Island, what 3 things would you need to have with you (not including humans or electronic devices)?

Hmm...well, my first thought is soap. I want to stay clean you know, just in case I got rescued, not to mention I do not want to smell funky.

The second thing would be waterproof matches. I could fish for food but I want a way to cook it (I do not like raw food). I would be able to start a fire to keep warm, warn off animals or signal that rescue ship. As long as they are waterproof I do not have to worry.

The third thing is an axe. I would be able to chop stuff for shelter, to gather food or for protection if need be.

3.  Where is the farthest you have ever traveled to?
This one is easy I went to Rome, Italy in 2000.

4.  Do you live in a house, trailer or apartment, etc.?
I live in a condo.

5.  What is your most hated household chore?
Cleaning the bathroom! (oh if my bathroom only looked like this)

Have a great week!
