Day 4-Dona Nobis Pacem

Today I am writing with many other bloggers about peace. Yes, peace!  We all are writing our thoughts about this simple word...peace.

Is it really a simple word though or is it much more than that?

If we can come together for a common reason say...name your holiday here...or birthday or some other celebration or cause or...
Why can we not collectively think and wish for peace?

Where does peace begin I ask you?
I think it begins with me, right here in my home. If it cannot begin here then how can I expect it to be universal? I must live a life of peacefulness not just dream it.  I must get along with my family, then my neighbors, then the city, the state, the country, and yes, the world! It can happen if I want it to, if you want it to. Which of course brings me back to today, right now, this moment. A collective thought process in order to bring peace to our world.

I believe in it. Do you?
--------------------------
Some quotes about peace:

“You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one.”
― John Lennon

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
― Albert Einstein

“When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
― Fred Rogers

“Whenever you are confronted with an opponent. Conquer him with love.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

“You have peace," the old woman said, "when you make it with yourself.”
― Mitch AlbomThe Five People You Meet in Heaven

“Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.”
― Albert Schweitzer

“Peace is always beautiful.”
― Walt WhitmanLeaves of Grass

“Imagine that the universe is a great spinning engine. You want to stay near the core of the thing - right in the hub of the wheel - not out at the edges where all the wild whirling takes place, where you can get frayed and crazy. The hub of calmness - that's your heart. That's where God lives within you. So stop looking for answers in the world. Just keep coming back to that center and you'll always find peace.”
― Elizabeth Gilbert

“A quiet conscience makes one strong!”
― Anne FrankThe Diary of a Young Girl

I am certainly thankful for a peacful heart.
Let us strive for that one word shall we?

Peace,
Naila Moon

My art piece for today, another painted rock:

I think I did pretty good painting on the world.

I grew up on a steady diet of John Lennon and have always longed for a bit of his perspective. Unfortunately, I lean more towards inner turmoil than inner peace but one can always dream, right?
